Reports reaching exclusive dispatch indicates a vast movement of refugees from Niger republic into Northern Nigerian in response to an eminent deployment of ECOWAS troops into Niger. ECOWAS a powerful west African regional bloc had ordered the activation of its standby force, increasing the pressure on the senior army officers who deposed Niger’s democratically elected leader last month but leaving the door open for a diplomatic solution.

Resident however are taking no chances in order not to be caught in a possible cross fire. reports indicate that along Nigeria’s porous borders with Niger there has been a mass movement of refugees.

On Thursday evening, US secretary of state Antony Blinken voiced support for ECOWAS, without explicitly backing for military intervention.

“ECOWAS … is playing a key role in making clear the imperative of a return to constitutional order, and we very much support ECOWAS’ leadership and work on this,” he said.

Nigerians in Northern Nigeria have began to lament as goods and essential commodities have began to skyrocket adding to the pains already existing due to the removal of petroleum subsidy by the Tinubu’s Administration. residents also fear the resurgence of the dreaded Boko Haram and other terror groups within Northern Nigeria.
